Joseph Beamer

Bio: BS in Mathematics, Indiana University(2005), BS in Physics, Indiana University (2005).

Joseph Richard Beamer has worked for one year as a Mathematics Instructor at Indiana University, and also approximately ?years each as a researcher in Modern Physics, Geology, and Atmospheric Science at Indiana University. He has experiece with several mathematical and scienctific software programs and in basic programming. He has a strong knowledge of Math and Physics as well as a special interest in Environmental Science.

He has also taught upper-level Mathematics at two international high schools in Prague,CZ; and is currently working as a Mathematics/Science instructor at two universities in Prague teaching Business Math, General Math, and Environmental Science.


George Coppedge

Bio:B.B.A., Finance, University of Oklahoma (1991); M.B.A., Carnegie Mellon University (1997).

George Coppedge currently teaches graduate and undergraduate Information Technology courses in Prague. He has been teaching university-level courses since 1994. He has also worked as a corporate trainer in the US. His courses emphasize practical PC skills, which significantly enhance students' marketability to employers.

Prior to teaching, he held a series of steadily increasing positions of responsibility in IT, starting as a junior programmer and leading up to be a professional services systems integrator.

His business background and professional IT experience have combined to produce a realistic and results-oriented philosophy that students welcome and appreciate. He has been officially recognized by students for his teaching skills.

He has also designed and conducted several computerized competitive business simulations covering industries such as wireless telephony and commodities trading.


Keith Crawford

Keith Crawford has an extensive background in academia, both in the UK and the Czech Republic. Besides teaching Logic and Philosophy at UNVA, he is a contributing author to numerous news media, his articles having appeared in such publications as The Economist.

James Critz has been teaching at universities in Prague since 2004; he worked as a consultant to high-tech startup companies and before that worked for many years at Hewlett Packard Company as an educator, business consultant and enterprise software architect/developer. His research is focused on applications of cognitive modeling and linguistic analysis to the development of intelligent business systems.

He presented a paper on Natural Language Processing at the EurOpen Conference, Czech Republic (2008). He also presented several papers on the use of fuzzy logic and knowledge representation at international conferences of the International Fuzzy Systems Association , as well as COLING conferences on computational linguistics and other professional linguistic organizations.


Allison Dansie

Allison Dansie joined the UNVA Prague faculty in 2009. She also teaches at the Prague School of Economics (VSE). She has taught English at the university level (specializing in public speaking, composition, literature, and TESOL pedagogy) in 5 different countries including China, Japan and Turkey.

Ms. Dansie specializes in teaching English to non-native speakers, but has also taught extensively in international teacher training/pedagogy programs. Her specialization is brain-based research and its impacts on practical teaching methodology. Her publications range from the Journal of Inquiry and Research (Japan) to the international publication TESOL EFLIS.


Jiri Donat

Following the completion of legal studies, Mr. Ference joined Idaho Legal Services, Inc. specializing in administrative law and was subsequently appointed Legal Services Developer for the State of Idaho under a federal grant. In this capacity he co-founded the Idaho Senior Citizen Lobby, an advocacy group focusing on legal issues of the elderly. In 1982 he joined the successful election campaign management team of Gov. John V. Evans and afterwards was appointed to the Disability Determinations Unit of the Executive Branch and served as Professional Relations Officer, Finance Officer and Administrative Bureau Chief. In 1986 he became the Executive Director of the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association and therafter became self-employed in the areas of contracts management and small business development.

In 1991 he was invited by the Medical Faculty of Palacky University to assist in their westward transition. Following this he served as a consultant to the Office of the Rector of Palacky University and in 1993 began lecturing at the Law Faculty and soon thereafter first taught in the Applied Economics Department. After returning to the United States to continue an interest in small business development he was invited to return to Palacky University in 2005 teaching at the Law Faculty and the English and American Studies Department. Since 2006 he has also taught at the University of Northern Virginia Prague campus in the MBA and Bachelor degree programs.


Helena Fialova

Bio: Dr. Fialov?has a PhD in economics from the Prague School of Economics. She is considered an expert in the field. She has worked on numerous research projects, many of which have dealt with macroeconomic forecasting of the Czech Economy. She has been a Visiting Lecturer at universities in Japan, California, Hawaii, Chicago, Belgium and the UK. She has written numerous textbooks on macro- and microeconomics and the business cycle, as well as several dictionaries of business and economic terms in Czech and English. She is continuously publishing academic articles in various scholarly economic journals. Dr. Fialov?is a Visiting Faculty at the Prague University of Economics; the Czech Technical University, Faculty of Engineering, and the MBA program at the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies, CVUT.

Bio: Bruce is the director of Ethics2biz Solutions Ltd. He is a freelance lecturer and consultant, his main interests are in Business Ethics and its relationships to behavioural finance. Bruce lectures at the MBA and Bachelors degree level in universities and colleges in Prague. He has a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Theoretical Physics from London University, a professional accountancy qualification with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a honours degree in Philosophy from Birkbeck College, University of London. He worked in London as a Management Accountant with HSBC before moving to Prague in 1999.

Moses Geply

Bio: MSc., Industrial Economics, Prague University of Economics (1989); Doctoral research fellowship, United Nations University Institute for New Technologies, Maastricht, The Netherlands (2004); Ph.D., Business Economics (2005).

Moses Geply joined UNVA’s faculty in 2007, after obtaining his doctorate in Business Economics from Prague University of Economics; he previously taught in the College of Business and Public Adminstration, University of Liberia. He writes on business strategy and economic development, but his areas of emphasis are science and technology policy and human resource development. His articles and essays have appeared in online journals, including the Czech innovation and technology journal Inovacni Podnikani and Transfer Technologii.

He is a former consultant and adminstrative manager of West Africa Consultants, Inc., in Liberia. From 1998-2001, he taught Industrial Economics and Principles of Economics at the University of Liberia. In 2000 he was awarded a certifcate for best instructor of the year by the Association of Economics Students of the University of Liberia. He is a former business development manager for ZEOPOL, s.r.o. In April, 2006, he participated in a conference of African scholars on conflict resolution at the King Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco, where he presented a paper on The Interface between Confiict Resolution and Economic Development.

Bio: Dr. Jaroslav Halík has been teaching Operations Management, International Business and Marketing Management in both the BBA and MBA Programs of UNVA. He finished his MSc at Norweigian School of Management Oslo, his MBA at RIT New York, and his Ph.D. at the University of Economics in Prague. Dr. Halík has extensive professional experience having worked as a Business Development Manager, a Marketing Manager and a Sales Director in multinational companies. He is an active consultant in the areas of international business and marketing strategy.

Bio: Jon Holmes graduated from Sheffield University in 1985 with an Honurs degree in History. He then worked in the City of London for a stockbroking company and an investment bank whilst studying for his accountancy qualification. In 1992, Jon opted for a change in career and taught English in Japan for three years before returning to Sheffield University to study for a Masters degree in International Relations in 1995. He then relocated to Prague and moved into corprate training , working both as a trainer and a training manager. Jon became a university lecturer in 2002. Apart from accountancy and finance courses, he has also taught economic history and leadership. During his time as a lecturer, Jon also gained a Diploma in Management from the Open University.

Ciaran Kelly

Mr. Kelly has 25 years of international management experience. 10 years of Interior Design in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills (www.duxiana.com) as well as 15 years in academia and the auto industry in Europe. As National Sales Manager and Group Operations Director for AAA AUTO, his sales teams sold more than 400,000 cars and generated some 83 billion Euros for the Czech economy (www.aaaauto.cz). Mr. Kelly has been teaching at the University level since 1993. He began by teaching History and Political Science, and for the last 5 years has been teaching HR, Marketing, Business Management, Sales and Advertising. In Prague, he has taught at the University of Northern Virginia, University of New York, Anglo American College and Vysoka Skola Ekonomiky and Managementu. Mr. Kelly frequently travels to Sweden where he teaches business courses in Sales and Customer Service for Ideforum (www.ideforum.com). Mr. Kelly coached the Prague Panthers to their first four National Championships in American football, brought them to the quarter finals of the Eurobowl competition and now coaches the Pilsen Patriots (where last year, he led them to their first ever playoff appearance).

Mr. Kelly has created two international internship programs: one for the Foreign Ministry of the CR with Dr. Vladimir Galuska, and second intern program for United Nations Office in Prague with Dr. Andreas Nicklaus.

Bio:Graduated from the Istanbul University in 2005 where he studied Economics at the Istanbul University. Since then he has been at the Center for Economics Research and Graduate Education - Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) in Prague where he received an MA and is currently a PhD candidate and Junior Researcher.

His research interests include markets with R&D and strategic interactions as well as models with learning from market price.

Ilir has taught Principles in Contemporary Microeconomics (ECON 201) at UNVA during the Winter and Spring semesters 2009.

Dr. Maggu is an educationist with multi-cultural work experience ranging from university teaching and academic research, to organizing and conducting workshops for Multi National Corporations. She posseses several years experience in guiding and managing a small business company; carries International Organizational experience of working for NGO’s, National level Government Institutions as well as commercial organizations. She has presented papers at national and international forums.

She is currently engaged in teaching different courses for various Universities (both national and international) in Prague, teaching both Humanity and Business based disciplines.

Dr. Maggu is a representative of the Council of Higher Education Institutions of the Czech Republic(Rada Vysokych Skol) for one of the Universities where she is teaching, which has appointed her as the Deputy Guarantor for their M.A. program in Public Policy; a member of their State Examinations Committee and an Advisor & Opponent for their B.A. and M.A.Thesis in Sociology.

Bio:

Martin has held a number of roles within academia. In the 1990s Martin was a director at the Czech Management Center. In 2001, he began work at Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. In addition to lecturing and academic administration, Martin was also responsible for the supervision of more than twenty five dissertations at both the bachelor and masters levels.

Sicne his return to Prague, Martin has worked with a number of private universities teaching Effective Management, High Performance Management, Knowledge Management, and Strategic Implementation at both undergraduate and graduate level.

Martin joined the University of Northern Virginia Prague campus in 2004. He has also lectured in China and the USA.

Martin obtained his MBA from the Caledonian Business School in Glasgow, Scotland and earned his Master of Science degree from Cranfield University in Bedfordshire, England.


David John Muir

Bio: A Canadian who spent most of his formative years in Montréal, he graduated from l’Universit?de Montréal’s Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC). His M.Sc. is from University of Leicester, which he read for at the Abu Dhabi campus, where he taught , MBA courses for several years. David teaches a number of Finance and Accounting courses at UNVA. Professionally, he has worked in accounting, administration and credit in both banks and private companies over more than 20 years. Before leaving Canada, he was the National Credit Manager for Canada Post’s Retail Operations. He went to Abu Dhabi for nine years to work for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, where he worked as on internal and external funds, as well as human resources. He has been living in Kladno, Czech Republic with his wife since 2002.


Kenneth Nicholas

Bio: Missouri State University ?Springfield, Missouri, Bachelor of Science degree in Education and English (Cum Laude). University of Missouri ?Columbia, Fellowship recipient with an MA degree in English/Writing (Cum Laude).

Mr. Nicholas arrived in Czechoslovakia in 1991 and began a career as a writer and publisher. He has authored seven books (as Sinclair Nicholas), including a five-year, 1200-page project, The Comprehensive American-Czech Dictionary. Mr. Nicholas spent well over a decade (1991-2004) working exclusively as a writer and publisher, then in 2005 began teaching college level courses in writing.

In the last three years (2006-2009), Mr. Nicholas has authored nearly 30 research projects published through EBSCO, a library database company that most U.S. colleges and universities (including UNVA Prague) offer students for online research. Mr. Nicholas has also written several textbooks for a Texas-based education publisher, and his freelance editorials and articles have been published in various magazines and journals around the world. His most recent book, The AmeriCzech Dream was well received in the Czech Republic, and was acclaimed in Czech national newspapers and television broadcasts.


Olexandr Nikolaychuk

Pier Andrea Podda

Pietro was born in Sardinia, Italy and educated in Rome. He studied Political Sciences and specialized, at a Master level, in EU and International Affairs. He was an active member of the group advising the Erasmus Program. After a further post - Master course on EU law he started working in the banking sector as a financial analyst and later, as an investment consultant. Currently, Pietro is conducting his Ph.D. research on foreign direct investment into the Czech Republic.


Petr Pustina

Ondrej Rak

Bio: Dr. Ondrej Rak completed his PhDr. in Cultural Studies at Charles University in Prague and is currently working as an HR Consultant and Marketing Manager at Image Lab s.r.o, one of the Czech Republic’s top HR training and consultancy companies. As an HR Consultant, Dr. Rak has cooperated with many companies delivering trainings and consultancy projects. The main companies included Škoda Auto, ABB, Lincoln, DSV, Iveco Irisbus and many others. During his career, he went through many trainings himself, including a Trainer Qualification with Volkswagen A.G. from which he obtained the Volkswagen Service Trainer Certificate. Dr. Rak is also active in the academic world. He has taught university courses on the topics of Psychology of Management and is currently teaching Personnel Psychology at UNVA. His university studies were focused on two main areas: Psychology and Cultural Studies. In Psychology, his main areas of interest were depression treatment and also connection between psychology and business. In cultural studies, his research was focused on social and psychological impacts of destruction of the old town in Most in the Czech Republic. He speaks English and Czech, has a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Káta, loves fast cars and plays drums in hard rock band called Kdyby Psi.

With a concentration in economics, Ashot is rounding out his education in the field with his Ph.D. (at CERGE-EI) on trends in the housing market. He teaches economics, mathematics, and financial courses at both the undergraduate and MBA levels.


Silvia Vondrackova

Bio: Sylvia Vondráckov?is a new member of our faculty as of fall 2009, after having worked over 6 years in a P.O.P. advertising agency (SARA, s.r.o./ DesignTeam).

She was the marketing director and later the export director establishing sister companies and distributor partnerships in Poland, Austria and France. She is the author of numerous articles concerning new trends within the point of purchase advertising segment, printed in Czech marketing magazines. Sylvia is currently raising a 2-year-old son and working on contract for different advertising and investment companies seeking external marketing or translation services. Teaching at UNVA Prague is her current most exciting challenge.
