The Job Placement Program is available to graduates, currently enrolled students and former students. This office serves as a source for employment opportunities available in the local community and outlying area. The Job Placement Program continues to receive information about a substantial number of career-oriented positions, thus, providing students the opportunity to match their majors or interests with related employment.
Services of the Job Placement program include, but are not limited to:
Job development within each curriculum is promoted at UNVA on an ongoing basis. Employers from business, industry, government, and education are interested to recruit at UNVA. The placement office offers employers a centralized location for contact. Employers may contact the Director of Student Services to schedule recruiting times on campus.
Career Consulting is offered through workshops and by appointment. Regularly, the Job Placement Program in partnership with Hays Recruitment sponsors resume and job-seeking workshops. All students and alumni are urged to attend.
Employers may e-mail, fax, or mail any employment opportunities to the Student Services Office. These openings will remain active for six weeks within the Placement Office. This information is shared with the alumni and department heads upon receipt.
The Job Placement program maintains an employment resource library that contains information on many local companies. Employers are encouraged to send information to be included in this library. Also, many of the employer applications are maintained within these files.
The Job Placement program maintains alumni and salary information, which is available upon request. The office is also able to provide limited career search testing.
This program assists students and employers to better understand each other in a real-world work situation.
Internships are a three-way partnership involving the employer, the student and UNVA.
Participation relies on open lines of communication and a mutual commitment to provide quality service. The program maintains flexible operating guidelines and procedures for both employers and students. Internships are academic and taken for credit by students.
Participation enables employers to have access to an ever-renewing supply of reliable, high-quality employees.
"The lecturers and staff are top-class. They offered a great deal of assistance to me during the application process. They helped me have my qualifications fully recognized. Once I met the admissions staff I made up my mind that this was the program for me."
