University of Northern Virginia-Prague-czech republic-faculty members

Students who have completed coursework at other universities can transfer their credits to UNVA-Prague. We make it our goal to provide the maximum amount of transfer credit possible (see below). The university can also grant college credit for certain outside training and courses. Potential transfer students should contact the admissions office for a personal consultation.

Students who have demonstrated experience in particular academic areas, but have neither completed academic coursework, nor taken a formal training program, may opt to take a challenge exam.

Transfer of Course Credits

Bachelor degree students who have completed less than two years at another university, may transfer credits on a course-by-course basis. This means that the courses which you have completed are matched up with comparable courses in our program. We can transfer up to 30 credits (10 courses) in this manner. Students who have completed an associate degree (or the equivalent, for example, a higher national diploma or vyssi odborna skola) or with special approval from the chief academic officer may apply using the block transfer program. This program allows the student to transfer up to 60 credits (20 courses) which is half the program.

MBA students may transfer up to 9 credits on a course-by-course basis.

Transfer students should use the regular application forms marking the transfer student box. A copy of the student's transcript showing the courses they wish to transfer should be included with the application form, and in addition, applicants should arrange for official transcripts to be sent directly to UNVA-Prague. Czech students whose only record is their original index book, may send copies of the relevant pages; note that before you begin studies, you will be asked to show us the original index book so that we can attest to the copies. Until all records are made available to the admissions office, the transfer student will be enrolled under a conditional agreement.

Students studying at other UNVA campuses around the globe may join the UNVA-Prague campus at any time during their studies. All past coursework and credits which have been completed at other UNVA campuses will be accepted towards your degree program at UNVA-Prague.

Challenge Examinations

Instead of registering for an undergraduate course, a student may request a challenge examination. These exams allow students to receive credit or waive the requirement for a course by passing a comprehensive test of the course material. The appropriate department must grant permission, and the instructor will determine the examination format (written, oral, practical, combination, etc.). At the option of the student and instructor, the examination may be graded on either the normal or the S/U basis, and the examination points earned will be equivalent to a final grade in the course. Credit hours and grade points earned in this way are equivalent to those earned through successful completion of courses.
